The first Islands’ Regatta on the Isles of Scilly was a spectacular celebration of the islands’ unique maritime history, and certainly Scilly’s biggest event of the summer with all the accommodation on the Islands fully booked.
Centre of the action was a flotilla of classic and traditional boats sailing into St Mary’s Harbour, bringing an air of yesteryear back to the islands. The nautical festivities included a Round the Island race, a Parade of Sail and a visit from a Royal Navy Type 23 frigate. There was a non-stop shoreside programme across the four days with live music and shanties, nautical-inspired fun and games and a breathtaking display from the Red Arrows.
